BIO: Dr. Heiland is currently an Associate Professor of Neuro-Oncology Research. His research experience lies in the area of multi-omic data analysis and in-silico modeling of high-dimensional biological data and development of neocortical model systems for investigation of microenvironmental impact on the tumor evolution and immunity. TITLE: Topography of CNS malignancy

FEATURING: Dieter Henrik Heiland, MD PHD, Associate Professor of Neuro-Surgery, Medical Center University of Freiburg

ABSTRACT: The topography of malignant lesions and the adjacent cellular diversity of the CNS constitute the foundation for a comprehensive understanding of tumor heterogeneity. Employing spatially resolved multi-omics in glioblastoma and non-malignant specimens, segregated niches characterized by immunological and metabolic stress factors have been identified. These spatial niches are shaped by the tumor microenvironment and reflect transcriptional adaptations to inflammatory or metabolic stimuli and recapitulate neural developmental stages
